BINGHAM FARMS –– Renew Hair & Skin Center announces the Third Annual Wig Out,  next week. The event takes place Monday and Tuesday and encourages the public to drop off new or gently used wigs to the Renew office at 30150 Telegraph Rd. Suite 173. All wigs will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

The event will kick off with Renew Hair & Skin Center hosting five Michigan vendors, including Blue Lagoon, Art Loft and Buckle Up, Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. “It’s a great cause and we love to give back,” says Amy Schram co-owner in Buckle Up, a belt and buckle retailer, will be second year in attendance as vendors to the event. All vendors will offer merchandise with a percentage of proceeds from sales that day to be donated to the American Cancer Society.

“We have created such a following with this event that people drop off wigs all year round,” said Robin Welford, co-owner of Renew Hair & Skin Center. “Through this program, we have helped many regain their self-esteem and feel comfortable facing the world again.”

Co-owner Suzie Meklir can understand first-hand the embarrassment and lack of self-esteem suffered when Meklir experienced hair loss.

“As someone who has experienced hair loss, I can fully empathize with individuals who have undergone various treatments for cancer that can cause hair loss and the importance of preserving their dignity,” said Meklir. “The donation of these wigs will be a helpful tool for many during the transition of new hair growth.”
